Default Light Bar

Anyone know where to hook in the trigger for additional lights (i have a light bar) other than the high beam wire behind the headlights so the light will come on with my high beams? The problem with hooking up to that location is they also come on with the day time running lights. I have a switch in the cab to shut it off for this reason.

Did you wire the bar yourself? High beams shouldn't be hot with DRLs.

They are one and the same just a lower voltage. I ran into the same issue on my 95 diesel. Yes I wired them myself. I'm no stranger to automotive wiring. Taping into a high beam wire behind the headlight really is not rocket science.

Sorry, no experience with that vintage...on all of the '04 and newer f150s I've had it was always a 3 wire plug to the headlight bulb..ground, low beam, and high beam. Also a dual voltage bulb; but with independent wires for low and high beams.

its the same thing... still a 3 wire.. but drl are a lower voltage going to the high beam side of the bulb around 9v or so...

think i may have figured it out.. i just need to find a relay that will only trigger at 12v or higher and not below.. drl must just be sending enough voltage to trigger the relay

What about using an add a fuse in the interior fuse box on the high beam circuit? Would that be before the drl signal ties into it?

Ya that's what I want to do or the high beam indicator light. Was hoping someone would know what color I'm looking for. So I don't have to pull the harness apart and start probing.

What about fuse 16 in the underdash fuse box?
