Default LED Map and Dome lights error

I went to Texas AutoSports and bought LEDs for map and dome lighting, requesting 194s & 578s. After installing them, they all went dark and I failed to figure out the cause, blown fuse, etc. After going to the dealer, I learned these lights were over wattage, i.e. 2 watts and they blew out my rear seat dome, which had to be replaced and burned the map lights. Here is photo of one of the 194's with burned LED, and the wrong size 578. Lesson learned.
It seems the correct 578 should have only 6-8.

Yep.

Junk. I suspect they have no blocking diodes - and if installed in reverse it toasted them. Thst, or just Zero QA.

Oh - and a 2 watt load is NOT going to overload anything ( that's less than 200ma - the dang circuit is fused for at least 5 amps ) -whoever told you that is full of chit.

BTW - here's some festoons: http://www.vleds.com/bulb-type/festo...led/white.html

And some 194's: http://www.vleds.com/bulb-type/minia.../white-5k.html

Many thanks for the links, I should have ordered them online in the 1st place. The dude at TX AutoSports charged me $103.27 for 8 bulbs. Appreciate the advice.

very poorly made circuit boards some of the led are crooked... when the meltdown happened. it would have taken a lot of draw on the circuit...

Each incandescent 194 bulb draws 3.8 watts, way less than a led could ever draw. I can run 15 feet of strip led lighting (300 leds) with around 2 amps. I would take the bulbs back and the bill from ford to the store you got them...
