Yes and no... so on some 2014 and earlier trucks there is a known issue when upgrading led fogs and heads. What happens is the LEDs draw less power and it really tricks the computers. You don't necessarily need CANBUS to fix any "error" messages (the lights don't turn OFF) but what happens is on some trucks if you have LED fogs and LED headlights for example... turning your lows and fogs on, works fine. Switching to your highs, the fogs turn off, but then sometimes you can't put the lows back on.
Another thing that happens sometimes is if you turn your fogs on, your highs kick on automatically... odd problems.
So if you are JUST doing LED Headlights and have standard halogen fogs you should be fine.
If you put LED fogs in and LED headlights you should throw CANBUS adapters on the fogs/headlights.
Another REALLY cheap fix is to do the "Bambi Mod" which allows you to run your fogs AND your highs at the same time. It also fixes that STRANGE issue with the highs kicking in by themselves when the fogs are on, OR the highs never turning off.
Now if you go the CANBUS adapter route, buy a quality kit. We had an issue with some cheaper CANBUS adapters that didn't actually do much, which is why we switched over to a better CANBUS (the same style that Putco uses for example). They go for about $20 a pair on any site out there.
Avoid the small orange ones, those are really for replacement LED bulbs. And avoid anything that isn't sealed (some cheaper kits have everything exposed and it's a mess).
A proper canbus adapter should look like this, with plug and play ends on either side and it plugs right inline with your LED kit:
(These are the ones we sell, Putco sells, and all the well known manufactures sell):
