Question HID's without projectors?

so i know the topic has been pounded into the ground but i still am un sure. do i really need projectors if i want to get HID's? i understand that the glare can be bad but is it really that bad that? anyone with hid's and no projectors let me know how yours look. im also wondering if there are any projectors out there that look exactly like stock or pretty damn close? (basicly without all the led's and the headlamp, and turn signal in the same spot) also are there any projectors that only have one headlight instead of seperating the high beam to a spot next to it? or is that just how projectors work? (sorry for my lack of knowledge, kinda new to the whole projector world.) thanks in advance for your help guys!

I think you will be fine with hids and projectors, most everyone around here has hid with no projectors.

Do you NEED projectors? No. SHOULD you have projectors? Yes. Is the glare bad with reflectors? Kinda, depending on the condition of your lenses and the aim you do afterward.

Best bet... Get some Ebay projectors, crack them open and modify them as you see fit (ie: covering up the LED's and removing the halo's) since there are really no "good looking" projector light for your model year truck. I ran into the same problem with my 2005.

Since would have gone as far as to open up the lights... you might as well do a TSX retrofit into those housings. The Retrofit Source.

Yeah man, I have HID's with projectors and they are awesome, but my buddy has his stock lights and they are just as good with the HID's. Also you save money by not having to buy new headlights, so thats always a plus!

I don't have projectors with my HIDs, and they are fine. I love them. Pics are in my garage, and in my profile.

Mine are completely fine with the stock housing... I'm honestly not sure where people are getting the 'bad glare' thing from

I've never been harassed by the cops, nor do I have much flashing in normal situations- I live off of an unlighted highway (138), so I get a couple flashes in the pitch dark at night because there are not many people on there, so they freak out when there is abnormal lighting... lol, other than that, with normal driving, I don't get flashed...

Whenever I'm driving my wife's car and I pass someone with HID's in stock housings, I pretty much have to close my eyes and hope I don't run into anything until they pass... Very not good. In my truck, it's not as bad. The light output is much better with HID's (projectors or not) but the glare for oncoming traffic is pretty bad. I have written several modified equipment tickets for bright a** headlights because it's just... not... safe. Search Youtube for HID retrofit How-To's and you'll learn how to install projectors into your factory headlights without having to buy the ugly e-Bay halo projectors (sorry to anyone who has them, just not my thing.)

Yes, the aiming has a lot to do with it, but you have to pretty much point them straight at the ground to not blind other drivers. At that point, you're actually losing light output. Spend the extra $$ for projectors that will create a proper cutoff for your HID's and won't blind other drivers.
