Default HIDs as reverse lights

What's with this new fad? I thought of this a while back but didn't think it was possible. Guess I was wrong, lol, is it just for night time when in reverse? Or cause it looks cool? If you have dome this mod, how do u like it and can a ballast just plug into the reverse light harness or do I need connectors in between?

Can't say I've seen HID's in reverse lights, but I've taken notice to some pretty darn bright LED's.

I recently replaced my reverse lights with Whelen Vertex LEDs. Incredible difference!! I then wired a STT flasher in so that they flash in a strobe pattern and will work as normal reverse lights also. I'll try to add a still picture to tis post. The lower lights are 55w Halogen. The reverse are the Vertex's. Huge difference.

And aren't cadillacs reverse lights hids? If not, what cause they sure as hell look it. And I've also seen people install hids in aftermarket housings for reverse lights.

HID (High Intensity Discharge) and LED are different lights. Cadillac reverse lights are LED. The Whelen Vertex is actually an emergency warning light. It as many built in flash patterns and also a steady burn option. I used the steady burn. If you are interested, they can be found at www.strobesnmore.com for $69.99 each. They are also on other websites. If you go to install let me know and I'll write directions on how to do so.

Or there's this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Pcs-Car-Re...item4cfccb54d3

Basically a PNP HID kit with both the electrical bulb connections for the standard 3157 and 1157, as well as the socket to get the HID into your taillight.
