HID or LED
I am in desperate need of upgrading my lighting, I currently have factory headlight housing, I bought brighter bulbs but only lasted a few months. What is the best option for brighter lights, getting an HID conversion kit or go with LEDs or just keep buying brighter bulbs. I have an 07 F150
LEDs are a better choice. They are either on or of and they are instant. They are bright and use very little energy.
HID have to warm up for a second or 2 after they fire. Would be ok for low beam, but forget about flashing.

Most high beams are halogen or they run bi-xenon HID's that just change the focus of the projector to do high beams, so the flashing thing isn't really a consideration.
LED's will give you more output, i can only assume the 11th gen has as crappy headlights as the 12th gen does.
Be prepared to spend a bunch of money on them though, the cheap ones just glare and blind other drivers whilst not giving their best view for you.
If you can afford replacement HID or LED headlight units, that's probably the best option.

I would not recommend fitting HID's to reflector housing, only fit to projectors, hopefully that kit is a projector kit?
The light source will not line up and you'll have horrifically blinding and scattered light from them.

On my previous truck(2007 Silverado) it had separate bulbs for low and high beams. When running an HID bulb for both, trying to flash was pointlesss because the low beam would turn off and it would take a few seconds for the high beam bulb to illuminate completely. So if I was trying to flash oncoming traffic, the car was long gone by the time the high beam was illuminated. I later switched to LED bulbs and they turn on instantly.
I also had a ‘14 Wrx with factory HIDs on the low beam and halogen bulbs for the high beam/drl. On that car, the low beams would stay on when I turned on the high beams. I was able to flash instantly with that setup. I later replaced the halogen bulbs with LEDs and was pleased.
Now I have the factory quad beam LEDs and love them.

And that's why you would never retrofit HID bulbs into reflector housings.
ironically you wouldn't need to flash anyone as you'd already be permanently blinding them using HID bulbs in reflector housings.
