Default HID install

I just istalled HIDs on my 2008 truck (hi/lo and fogs) and the performance is less than it should be. I have them on my other cars, both projector and non projector lights, and the increase in the sight difference is tremendous.
My question, do I need to remove (can it be removed) the reflector piece in the headlight? Is that the issue?
That is the only difference i can see in it and my other lights.
Thanks

Have you put on any lift or bigger tires and haven't adjusted your head lights yet? Or another thing is I ordered 55w and I bought the wiring harness to power it off my battery instead of using stock power harness. Another thing that I haven't done yet. Is disabling your DRL I believe so that you don't get resisted and run at 100% instead of 80% ( I believe those are the right numbers/terms).

I lowered the rear 2" to level it, but that would raise the lights. The high beams look lower than the low beams, and neither shine down the road the way the stock lights did. I have the exact same 55 watt, 5000 set up (from DDM) as I do in all of my other vehicles, but these don't have close to the same performance.
I wondered if the reflector was in the way, since it was designed for the shorter halogen bulbs

Checked a few dozen post and it appears the headlight will not come apart to remove that reflector if it IS a problem. that's odd becasue the reflector is held on with a torx screww like it could be removed)
I guess I will try adjusting them up a little to see if they are any better. My C5s have standard (non-projector) lights and they are AMAZING, allowing you to see extremly far down the road.
Not sure if anyone else has poor performance from their install or not.

If the high beams are lower than the low beams could the bulbs be upside down?

When installing them, it appeared that that the bulb will only go in one way. The tabs are different.
