Where did you purhcase the housings? Those look nice. Are those FX4 housings with the black trim?

I drive a black XLT and it's got the chrome trim like your old ones...I like the black look.

This is how my tails turned out after painting the outside edge. I just used black finger nail polish.

Found them on eBay along with the rear lights. Came straight from a Dealer in original packaging. Did the same as Twinkies w black Rustolem paint. Looks so much better.
