I thought one or more of the components may have been bad so I sent the entire kit back and got another one with the same results. Now, my friends bought a kit too but he got the 35w as opposed to my 55w and his works flawlessly. Maybe the truck just doesn't provide enough power to fire the igniters.... idk

I have DDM kit in our truck, it came out of our mustang . The trick is to run all the grounds back to the battery, or the ground post next to the battery. Dont use the chassis ground at all. I made one long ground wire that hooked to all the ground connections and soldered all of the connections, use a wire a gauge thicker than than the individual ground wires on the kit.

Another thing that helps is if you have the auto headlight feature on is to either start car with one fast key turn, or turn the key on and give the lights a few seconds to warm up before cranking.

For the guy with no high beams; DDM had a run of improperly wired harness that only had low beam, call them and they'll get you a new harness.

Edit: I have the 35w kit, with a 55w the ground would be even more important.

HID ballsts can cause electromagnetic interference and cause issues with other electronics. Maybe that is your issue.

Only if they are using the old analog design. Which has been completely abandoned by all reputable manufacturers.

If you have interference, and paid a bargain price, its likely a garbage set.

How can I tell a good manufacturer from a bad one? They all look the same.

Read, read, read.

Reputable brands are recognizable names, like Phillips. Some are so-so brands, unfamiliar names or knock off names, like morimoto.

Some are hit and miss names, could be good, could be crap like eBay brands, Amazon, DDM, JLM.

There are hundreds of crap brands, and very few high end brands. So its easy to know what's been proven. But, that comes at a steep price.

You get the quality you pay for.

I doubt the relay is the issue. Though it commonly is related in cheap kits. His symptoms are single side isolated, if the relay were at fault it would affect all of it. Plus a relay doesn't really "fault" it either works or it doesn't. No middle ground.... usually

Reputable beyond doubt:
Usually used in OEM application.

Phillips
GE
OSRAM/Sylvania

High-end reputable brands:

Morimoto - especially true
PIAA

Mid-to-low-end brands:
Not necessarily in any order

DDM
JLM
Catz
EBay brands
Amazon brands

Anything else.

Its hard to classify, but in reality $60 is a damn good price for a full kit. However there is a moderate risk that SOMETHING can go wrong or bad. This is an issue that does not happen in the high end brands.

Though the good/bad ratio is in favor of the cheap kits, keep in mind that its still a cheap kit. Its designed to fail and be replaced eventually. With better names, comes better quality, and far greater life expectancy.

I have a couple DDM kits, they both work and are both different. They are inexpensive and I have had couple of issues with them, however the customer support is good and friendly.
They are just the thing if you want try them out to see if you like HID kits because they are cheap enough to just shrug them off if dont like them.
35 watt is plenty, seems like you see twice as good over Silver Star bulbs and if you aim them properly you wont PO anybody. On our truck they kept the same aim point as the factory bulbs. use tape on a wall to idicate where the stock bulbs aim, and check after you put in the HIDs.

Okay so I figured it out. When I got my truck, I transferred my entire HID kit from my 2010 Honda Accord to my 2012 F-150.... This kit was used in my 03 G35Coupe, my 06 VW GTI, my 2010 Accord and now my truck.

I have not had ONE single problem with the kit in any of the vehicles except the truck.

I bought new bulbs, a relay harness and replaced the ballasts 3 times. All of this was still giving me problems.

I ordered a kit when I got my truck for my friend's truck, but his kit was 35w as mine was 55w.

Changing the wattage was the ONLY thing I hadn't deviated from. Sooooooooo, I ditched the 55watt slims for the old school 35watt DC ballasts. Low and behold, they work flawlessly.

The truck doe not like 55w ballasts.

So if anyone wants to buy some high quality DDM tuning 55watt ballasts, they are for sale
