I have a 2016 XLT SCREW with OEM bed lights and bed switch. I'm looking at adding some additional LED strip lighting to the supplement the OEM bed lighting and am looking for help in figuring out how to wire them into the existing bed lights. I've seen directions on running them to the battery and installing a separate switch for them, but I would really like to connect them to the OEM lights so I only have to use the existing switch or the button in the cab.
I have zero experience working with auto wiring like this, so looking for help in doing it right without screwing something else up. Thanks for any help that's given.
the draw on LED strips are minimal, when the guys installed my cap (camper shell) with lights in the roof, they simply spliced into the +/- with the two pigtails for the bed lights and everything works off the switch in the bed. no issues. i had one on my last truck tied into the running lights for years, but the truck had to have running lights on for bed lights to work. safety measure if you left them on, they'd shut off w/ the truck lights.
