Thanks. The ones from amazon and the Goodyear are both rated in excess of 75mph. They are both 8ply load range D radial.

ST are trailer tires with a stronger sidewall to counter the flex of turning and backing. If you have never watched the trailer tires when backing, do it next time and watch how stressed they get. Regular tires are not designed to handle that kind of stress, including LT. That is the main difference between ST and LT.

Maxxis have no speed rating at all. A quick call and they say stay under 65. So much for Maxxis being top of the line.

I purchased the Grand Ride tires off amazon. They match the Goodyear spec (except speed rating, they are only rated to 75 which is fast enough for me) and actually exceed Goodyear’s weight rating so I figure why not. Plenty of great reviews too.

Amazon Amazon

Ill let you know how the install goes (if I do it myself)

I'm surprised they didn't say 'stay w/in the posted speed limit' lol. Probably said that to CYA. Maxxis is a great brand, heck they all are, until it fails on you...sigh.

Just keep in mind that the Grand Ride is a made in China tire not sold by a single reputable tire retailer. They could call the speed or load rating anything they want and I wouldn't believe them. The other tire you are comparing is reputable, sold and serviced at any tire retailer, made in USA. Not really seeing how anyone could even call them comparable.

Sorry for being so retarded about posting a general speed limit to go by. I got my information through tirerack.com https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tiretec...jsp?techid=219

I'm sure their engineers and the data that they provide are just as stupid as the Ford engineers that design our trucks. Our forum members have a much better knowledge of everything then the manufactures.

I dont believe I called any names. The 65mph is an old generalization from bias ply days. Radial st tires changed all of that, but you should still go by what the manufacturer lists. I maintain a fleet of 22 trailers. I buy a lot of tires and have done a lot of research over the last few years.

Before I hitched up, the first thing I did was change out those cheap tires for Goodyear Endurance.

While they were changing the tires, I compared the two side by side, and the GY had twice the sidewall stiffness as the China bombs.

I think those stiff sidewalls play a major factor in the stableness of my trailer. I don't get any of that rocking from side to side from my trailer like I see on other trailers, even when big rigs passes.

I also ran up over a concrete curb while turning, and I only got a slight scuffing, but no pinching or damage..

Tire rack is not a manufacturer, they are a retailer.

As far as manufacturers go, I verified with Kenda last month that all of their ST tires are rated for 81 mph.
