As of 2010, only 12 states explicitly required the use of booster seats, 9 for infant seats and 6 for toddler seats.

Ok, I will give you that there was not specific booster seat, infant seat, toddler seat laws in 1988 in all 50 states as far use of those particular types of seats are concerned.

But from the link you posted it also states: "Between 1977 and 1985, all 50 states adopted one or more laws aimed at reducing harm to infants and child passengers by requiring the use of some sort of child restraint device."

Point being, even if there was not a specific child car seat law in the state in which the tragic accident occurred, there was certainly a child restraint device law in effect, and there is no way the baby should have only been in the mother's arms.

What laws there were, were not enforced as they are today, and that's the key.

Hi guys here’s the set up, drove it about 350 miles this weekend with the jeep. It rained on the way home still no issues. It a great experience trailer pulled well, braked well, no sway at all. I have plenty of room to adjust the jeep to the front or back. The Ecoboost is a monster even with 3.31 gears it pulled pretty effortlessly. Thank you all for your guidance.

If the photo of the rig with the Jeep on the trailer is accurate, then the floor of the trailer is not level, front to rear. It would tow (and stop) even better if you get the floor of the trailer level front to rear when loaded for the road.

So you need a ball mount with a bit more drop, maybe just 2" more drop. Either replace the current ball mount with one that has more drop, or else replace it with an adjustable ball mount. Like this one:

I agree with Smokeywren about dropping the nose of the trailer slightly. Other than that, it looks very good. Glad it towed well for you. The Ecoboost is a good towing motor.

What state do you reside? I might have some stuff you could use.
