Default Trailer brake controller - issue adding installing

I have a 2012 FX4 With tow package but no brake controller so I bought one.

The connector on the TBC side does not fit/ match whats on the vehicle harness side. Im told there is a "cap" connector on it.

Not sure how it comes off totally. looking for a little help. Below is a picture of the vehicle side of the connector and then below that a pic of what I NEED to go into the TBC. A little help would be nice.. or guidance that YES thats a cap and needs to come off to get the right connector shape to fit the TBC.

Not really sure what you're saying here. Is the bottom photo a photo you took of the harness?

When i went to install my factory TBC, my harness was dummy plugged into the back of the cubby hole that the TBC replaces. I've read that sometimes there is an adapter attached to it, mine was not. I found my adapter taped to my OBD port. Which I did not need to use to connect the harness to the TBC.

To clear up the confusion, your TBC harness has an adapter on it and you can't figure out how to take it off?

Awesome! Glad to hear, I just had mine flashed and it's awesome. Hopefully your dealer doesn't charge too much! Mine charged 0.8 of an hour which I was kind of upset about. Should only take 10 minutes but oh well.
