Towing Shock Recommendations
I am working on prep to upgrade a camper from my current 3,500 Lb high wall pop up camper to a regular 25 foot 5,500 Lb camper. I completed phase 1, my OEM tow mirror installation, reference my recent post of this if interested.
Now I am working on phases 2-4 which are as follows:
My Camco Eaz-Lift ReCurve R3 WDH is supposedly finally be on the way. The design looks good, but the order, shipping and customer service has been extremely poor. At least I am getting a discount and waived shipping costs due to these problems.
My RAS HD suspension towing aid is supposed to arrive today. This company's order, shipping and customer service is good, order placement was easy, product shipped quick with detailing tracking through UPS.
Now for phase 4 my towing shocks:
The Bilstein 5100 shocks were highly recommended here. My truck is not lifted and has the stock wheels and tires. Their website recommended the 4600 version for my truck. These shocks are only available through dealers. I called one local dealer they said they were out of stock, I called another local dealer that told me it would be 3-4 months to get them, Bilstein is having problems making these shocks. I lost confidence in these ugly colored shocks.
So I started looking for an alternate towing shock via YouTube recommendations and am considering the following shocks:
Gabriel Adjustable Load Carrier - I like this shock having the adjustable option https://gabriel.com/LoadCarrier I am not sure if the added height adjustment is still worthwhile with the RAS HD? Unfortunately their customer service is as poor as Camco's. I am waiting on a call from their Tech Service that isn’t answering phone, it hangs up after a couple rings. I called their Customer service which emailed Tech support to call me. Really! UPDATE: The Tech support called me, no part is available yet for my truck, possibly in a few months.
KYB 565104 Mono Gas Shock
Please provide your inputs on alternate towing shocks, if you have experience with these 2 or have another one you recommend from your experience.
This is why these multi phased projects take so long. Is it just me or has this process quality gone down hill a lot lately? I thought that with AI things were supposed to be so much better.

The Bilstein will be better than the other listed brands. 5100s are for trucks lifted from 0-2”. Meaning, they’re goods for trucks from stock ride height up to lifted 2”.
They’re also not ugly yellow and blue.
I had 5100s on my 2017 and they were great. I’ll replace my rears on my 2025 eventually with 5100s again.

2008__XL and jkeaton224: Thanks for your inputs I found these https://cart.bilsteinus.com/shock-33...gine=V8%205.0L
I will check the local dealers for availability, and they look much better than the baby blue and yellow 4600 model.

My towing isn't hefty enough to justify a WDH, but I did a quick search here and didn't find any favorable reviews of the hitch you are waiting so anxiously for. Recurve R3 hitch

Apparently I should have done a focused search by the brand name from the WDH list I created, as opposed to a more generalized search. I did recently from bajaman, first hand experience TBD.
The WeighSafe did come in 2nd place from my investigation, I like the tongue weight scale, but it doesn't seem like a requirement for my approximately 600 lb. tongue weight.
As long as I can get the truck camper jointly level or the camper slightly lower without a hassle, I'm good. Towing road performance also TBD.
