What the dealership and the advertisements do not tell you is that there is only a max tow hitch rating of 500 lbs. There is no possible way a trailer weighing 12,700 will have a tongue weight of 500 lbs. 10% of the trailer weight of my toy hauler is 950 lbs. So how do they expect anyone to be able to tow 12,700 lbs with a max hitch rating of 500 lbs.

Has anyone else been dealing with this issue? So now I have a trailer that I cannot tow with my F150. I have to buy a bigger truck because they failed to let me know that little bit (BIG) of information when I bought my truck.
That 500 lb max is without wdh, it goes up substantially with that

Whether its a 2 year old or a 2 day old thread, I found the discourse extremely valuable. I am in GWyatt's position, new to towing and new to Fords. I'm trying to find the right truck that will work for me and my purposes. I appreciate the thread is still open and accessible because the wisdom it contains is valuable and doesn't change just because its a 2019 thread (unlike a thread on aux jacks that are now largely irrelevant).

Anyhow, thanks for all the valuable input here, I'm reading it but having difficulty grasping it. I'm working my Trailering 101 and even the vocabulary and terms are new to me.
