Default Tow Package

According to my window sticker, I have a "trailer tow package" $895.00. How do Find what level of tow package or what all this specific package includes. From reading it seems 53B (395.00 is the base, bumper and connectors that is it, 53A ($895.00) is trailer tow with auxiliary cooler and upgraded sway bar, 53C (1195.00) is max tow brake controller, upgraded axle etc? Do I have these levels right?
Or is 53B the tow package, 53A the max tow, and 53C for HDPP trucks?
Thank You
Garrett

The 53A is the regular towing package.

53B is just the hitch & wiring harness, and not considered a "tow package" by Ford. It would be listed as Class IV hitch on the window sticker.

53C is the max tow.

53B includes the receiver hitch, but limited to 5,000 pounds gross trailer weight.

You have it right for 2017 and earlier F-150s. However, for 2018 Ford changed the game plan. The main change was the auxiliary tranny cooler is no longer part of a towing pkg - it was replaced by a stronger radiator fan and a higher capacity radiator in the 53A and 53C towing packages.

So for 2018, the oil-to-water (OTW) tranny cooler in the bottom of the radiator is all the tranny cooler you have - and Ford thinks it's all you need if you don't overload your F-150. We'll see.

No. 53B is just the receiver hitch and wiring and plug. It is not "towing pkg" that allows you to tow a heavier trailer than 5,000 pounds. F-150s with HDPP and the 3.5L EcoBoost engine require 53C max tow, so the F-150s with max tow but without HDPP have the same tow pkg as the F-150s with HDPP and max tow.

53A is the regular, normal, towing pkg, including 53B and increased cooling capacity.

53C is the max tow pkg that requires the 3.5L EcoBoost engine, and includes 53A plus 36 gallon gas tank and integrated trailer brake controller (ITBC).

Neither 53A nor 53C includes the trailer tow mirrors. Those mirrors are a separate option, but be sure you get them if your trailer is taller or wider than the tailgate.

Thank you guys for the responses. 2016 for me, so I had it right in the first part, and that my "tow package" is the 53A with extra cooler and sway bar.

Mine is a 2016 with aux. trans. cooler, integrated brake controller, 36 gallons tank, but it has the 5.0 engine.
Is this a Max Tow (53C)?

No, max tow requires the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. With the 5.0L V8 engine, yours is the 53A regular tow pkg. The 36-gallon tank and the integrated trailer brake controller were options with the 53A pkg but included as part of the 53C Max Tow pkg.

Here's the 2018 Trailer Tow Package and what it means... Snapshot from the 2018 Ford F150 brochure.

It would have been nice if they'd have put the "53A, B, C" nomenclature on the window sticker. It would have resolved this issue, since it isn't really spelled out too well on the sticker. I have the 53A, but you have to do a little digging to figure that out.

Just want to make it clear on my truck.
Listed on dealer sticker
Trailer tow package 925$
Pro trailer back up assist free.

Truck is a supercrew, 5.0, 3.31 gears, 145" WB.

Would that make my truck the 14300lbs tow capacity ?

14,300 GCWR (includes truck)
or 8,900 lb max trailer weight

That is for a 2017, not sure what year you have but since the 14,300 matched I assumed it was either a 17 or it didn't change.
