Default Tow help

I’m wondering if I can tow my 8000lb loaded TT with a 2017 f150 lariat fx4 3.5 EB it has the max tow package with a 3.55 Axle. TT hitch weight is 960lbs and my payload on the truck is 1600lbs. Usually will only take us around 60mile drive and an occasional 4hr drive to Pismo from Central Valley CA.

You can if you keep what you load in the truck under your payload including that hitch weight.

You’re going to wish you had a Super Duty though.

Assuming those are loaded / GVWR numbers and you don't load much in the truck you should be similar to mine and you should be ok.
I believe I was safe with this setup from the beginning, but a whole lot more comfortable since I got the Pro Pride hitch.
How long is this TT? That can have a big impact on tow ability.

I believe it’s about 30ft. What hitch’s would you recommend?

What were you pulling it with before? Or do you not own it yet?

My dads 05 f150 5.4 was pulling it and it did fairly well. I’mlooking for a new truck and I found the 3.5 EB w/ max towing so hoping it would pull it much easier.

The newer truck will pull it better. But why not look at F250s as well? The F150 can pull it, likely with some white knuckle moments though. You MUST use a good weight distribution hitch. You know what they are, right?

The 3.5 EB will tow it better than the old 5.4. But I can’t imagine the 5.4 F150 pulled it that great to begin with.

Yeah we have a WDH it came with the TT. Any recommendations I should look at for a new one?

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the Pro Pride / Hensley is highly regarded. I personally use the Blue Ox Sway Pro, which is one of the top hitches out there and I love it. Though, I only tow a little over 4000 lbs with my F150.

Equalizer is another top of the line popular one.

My boat is 6,700 lbs and my 2010 with the 5.4 3V struggled a bit to pull it if there were any hills, whereas my 2020 with the 5.0 pulls it easily, so...you should be fine with the tow vehicle you have in mind. As others have noted, a SuperDuty will simply give you a much better experience whilst towing but of course at the cost of ride harshness, etc when NOT towing. The 'frontal area' of that camper is going to be huge and WILL be a factor in how it tows and more importantly how it reacts, and thus affects the tow vehicle, when in traffic and/or high winds. You will also be lucky to get 6 mpg with that rig, just sayin'...
