Default Tailgate Capacity

I have a set of loading ramps and am wondering if the tailgate on my 2020 f150 will support the weight to load my cub cadet lawn tractor. it is a regular lawn tractor with 42 in cut and weighs in the area of 500 lbs. Can anybody advise?

You’re good to go. Should be no issue.

Weight limit for the tailgate is supposed to be 600 pounds. Of course you won't have all 600 pounds on the tailgate, because the ramps will support it on the ground, and then the front tires will be in the truck and not on the tailgate.

Better have wide ramps though...

loading a 500lb mower into a pickup bed >3' off the ground is um ambitious. Uhaul rents a 5x8 low boy with ramps for $20/day.

As a kid we always backed into a road ditch and lowered the tailgate so the angle was not steep.

As an adult I realize yard work is for suckers.

It will hold the weight.

I've definitely wondered as well. Loading concrete bags plus my weight makes me nervous.

I've seen enough videos of motorbikes launching of the side of tailgate ramps to know better than to ever do that

Lawnmowers have a very shallow breakover, so you need longer ramps. Running long distances suspended above the ground on a short, heavy thing that can flip upside down faster than most people can bail, with a steering wheel or control arms in the way to keep you on the damn thing when you do try to bail, with the world's worst brakes, yeah, loading these two instruments of death is not equivalent.

you can apply that logic to anything in the world. the first step is to determine if one is smart enough to accomplish one's goals...

I've seen enough videos of car crashing to know better than to ever do that
I've seen enough videos of people eating spicy foods to know better than to ever do that
I've seen enough videos of people attempting to out run the police to know better than to ever do that
I've seen enough videos of people getting bit by snapping turtles to know better than to ever do that

having loaded my bike more times than i can count without an issue is not a problem if you are smart about it.
