Default Sway Control option

I searched the threads, didn’t find what I was looking for. My question is: when towing a 7000# travel trailer with a tongue weight of 850#, using an Equalizer 2 WDH, should I be disabling (unchecking) the sway control option or should the sway control option be checked (turned on)?

Side notes, I’m running new Load E Michelin Defenders 10 ply which replaced my Goodyear Wranglers Load S. I’m installing new Bilstein’s all the way around to replace the OEM shocks in hopes that will improve handling while towing. Tire dealer told me (using the tire pressure tables) I should bump the tire air pressure up from the 35 on the door label to 48 when not towing, then bump the rears up to 68 when towing. Truck is pulling the trailer fine, occasionally I get a bit of sway. I’m not sure if that’s from the worn out shocks, running 68 psi on the rear or what? Obviously I’d like to eliminate sway altogether. I’m a newbie pulling a travel trailer but I’ve pulled plenty of 4000# boats. Thanks in advance, Mike

I asked Equalizer themselves this very question and they told me to turn off the trucks sway control.

Blue Ox also says to turn it off. But I do not. I look at it as a last measure of defense.

The built is sway control takes a lot of sway to kick in, but it can really save you from situations that get out of your control.

Ive towed thousands of miles with it on and a WDH. Never had an issue, but I’ve always never had any sway.

I would look to see what Ford says as well if they have an option on the matter.

I never remember to turn it off and it has never negatively affected anything, lol

20,000 miles of towing this trailer with an Equalizer 4 pt and always leave the truck's sway control on. No issues.

Found this in the service manual. The way I read it under "trailer brake control request" the ABS unit can command the trailer brakes to apply through the trailer brake module during a sway event.

I have an equalizer hitch and always leave the sway control on, in the thousands of miles I have with my trailer. Sway saved my butt 1 time even with the equalizer WD hitch.

Was going over a bridge and hit a massive pot hole (could literally see through the water below super sketchy) while going around a curve in some stormy/windy weather. Was not going fast either. Luckily no one was next to me and the trailer was all over the place. Only time I have actively seen sway control kick in on the dash. Sway control was already doing its thing before I could reach down to the brake controller and squeeze the manual brakes to get the trailer back in line.

I use the Equal-I-Zer hitch currently, but I've never switched off the anti sway control on the truck. I've never had any problem whatsoever. Same when I was using the Blue Ox.

I have a Curt 4 point hitch with square bars and sway control. Curt said to leave the trucks electronic sway control ON as it uses multiple sensors to engage and control sway which won't interfere with the hitch's controls.

I leave it on all the time, it clearly helped be 3 separate times on my old TT.
There have been enough reports of issues that I do believe some trucks may have an issue.
I would suggest everyone to leave it on unless you find issues with your truck. Also if it ever engages without an extreme event you need a bigger truck or smaller trailer. This should truly be the last resort and I found it worked well for that.
