Surge Protectors
#11
I have this in my trailer, https://www.campingworld.com/surge-g...-amp-hardwired It protects against low voltage as well as surge. It wont connect power to the mains until it has run tests on voltages to make sure it is stable, then after about 3 1/2 minutes will power up the trailer. It is hardwired and it does have the option of a remote panel. I have mine buried under the refer so can't see it, but it works very well. I had a 15 amp extension cord hooked up and with the AC on, it would shut down power after a while as it was detecting low voltage. I checked the extension cord and sure enough, there was corrosion in the plug

For my money, the best name in surge suppression is Tripp Lite (makers of the IsoBar - the first surge suppressor with insurance). I'd be looking at these, or something similar:

Ah, for like lightning strikes? I don't really have anything "electronic" in my TT. Powerlines at my house and campgrounds are underground too, so the chances of lightning hitting them between taller objects like trees and buildings and landing directly on the ground where lines are underneath is slim to none... Never had it happen yet! knock on wood

It has blocked my power because the camp ground had the AC voltage turned up due to high demand, the camp ground was only half full and my protector would not allow 128 volts to come thru until I hit the bypass on the readout - 1 hour later the power co showed up and reduced it to 120 volts and I was able to turn it back on.
Bypass is just making a connection as if it wasn't there, I was nervous but the KOA told me about the issue so I was ok.

Yeah too much AC voltage is bad for DC charging systems. My AC/DC Charger/Converter is always unplugged because the DC side is strictly solar charged. The AC side of my TT only powers my air conditioner and the wall outlets in the TT.

I have one of these that I bought 2 years ago and have been very happy with it. I've never seen it trip so we've been pretty lucky:
Progressive Industries 313.1122 EMS-PT30C Portable EMS RV Surge Protector - 30 Amp

This is the one I have and it doesn't work at all - it's being shipped back as we speak - I think its junk - JMO

Not enough content to label it as 'junk'; Maybe you got lucky and got a dud? Or maybe it did its job and protected your stuff then you realized it doesn't work? Again not enough content.
