Lightbulb Setting up a camper in the dark? Need extra light?

Provided your camper has a battery and 7-pin trailer plug, just jumper the top 2 plugs on either side of the tab with a wire (no thin wires or speaker wires here!)

It'll light up all your running lights on your trailer and your tail lights running off of your camper battery. Lights up all around my camper. Also did a temporary wire to a temporary switch inside. We try to not use the toilet if we don't have to. The wife turns on the running lights when she goes out to find the outhouse at night

Don't keep em on too long and kill your battery! But if you're plugged into camp power, you could keep em on all night though if you want to. I'm swapping all my exterior lights with LED and then I'll be mounting a permanent wall switch for this.

What did you use to jumper them?

At first it was just a thick piece of wire, and then another one I had with alligator clips, and I jammed the flat part that you pinch in there. Now I'm wired into the harness with a switch good for 2 amps, but I'll be making it a permanent light switch eventually and will use a relay instead of running the current through the switch.

A wire by itself works fine too. That's what I was doing when I would unhook in the dark so I had a bit of light all around the trailer until I decided to make it more usable.

Always figured dealers had some kind of plug to make this happen at shows.

Good point! I'll have to have a look at the plug next time I see a dealer setup... I bet they do have a plug that does this exact thing!

This is an interesting dohickey, thanks for the suggestion!

EDIT: I just realized I had a pic from another thread where he used a blade circuit breaker to turn on his TT lights

I have this wonderful little light you wear on your head like a coal miners lamp and it works great, it lights up a spot about 8' across like day everywhere you look and I don't have to rewire anything.
