Default Roadmaster Active Suspension Install

Just installed the Roadmaster HD active suspension on my 2018 F150 XLT. I installed as I now have a TT and wanted the added suspension support. Prior to the install I measured the wheel well heights. Front at 36 3/4" and the rear was at 39". I adjusted the tension to 25% on the roadmasters. The rear wheel wells are now at 40 1/4". A couple of questions, do you have to adjust to the 25% or can you bring the tension back down and I would assume the wheel well height would drop back down? But am I defeating the purpose of the roadmaster suspension? Second, I am installing Billstein 5100's all the way around. Should I adjust the fronts to gain 1" or 2" to get the truck semi-level? I have been told not level the truck since I will be towing a TT. Any advice would be appreciated. JHC

My .02, taking the 25% adjustment out is a question for our friends at Roadmaster (my guess is that you would still "benefit" from the RAS springs under a heavy load). WRT leveling the truck I wouldn't do anything until you've hitched up your TT and loaded the truck and trailer for a camping trip. Then take some measurements and see where you're at. I have the standard RAS and it raised the rear wheel well 1/2" - 3/4".

Ok, here's what I did. Your truck information is sparse so weigh what you have with what is in my signature before making any moves. Firstly I think the HD version is overdoing it in your case. I have the original, now standard version and it's more than enough. I installed 5100s all around and had the fronts set to the first setting above stock height. That raised the truck about 3/4" in the front, the rear remained the same. The reason I did this it had a lot of rake, sitting in the truck unloaded it always felt I was looking / going downhill.
After taking my then new 5W out a couple times I could feel the rear axle surging when pulling out from a stop. With the weight on the back axle it was trying to wrap itself around the spring. This where the RAS shines. I installed it and set it with the white disc (1mm) and felt improvement with maybe a 1/2" change in rear unloaded height. Since I still could feel the axle wrap I tightened the spring on the RAS to the black spacer disc (2mm). It's good now with no appreciable rise in the rear.

Had my truck weighed. With WDH and the TT loaded modestly (no water), Truck weight hitched and WDH was 6,160. Steer axle 3,240 (GAWR 3450) and drive axle 2,920 (Rear GAWR 3,350). My GVWR is 6,500. Truck weighed 5,680 and TT weight 5,680. Tongue weight 680. I agree, I need to load up the truck and TT and see how she levels out. I already know from the weight measurements, I need to back off the WDH by one hole (Husky Centerline). Now with it an inch higher maybe more. Still learning..........

Default 40%

I just installed my HD roadmaster last week and towing my brand new 2020 TT dry weight 6K. Now I have a 4" lift kit sitting on 35x12.5x20 and I still get a little sag. Now I set mine to the 1mm setting which is supposed to be 40%. I think it was a huge help. Combined with the new toyo F rated ATIII and I eliminated all body sway but still a little sag. I still get some TT sway even with my equalizer 4 sway control.

I would really like to level out the truck while in tow. I am debating on installing an air bag setup. I need to work on my axel gearing first.

Were you able to adjust to the 2mm spacer while the truck was on the ground/suspension under load or did you have to have the wheels off the grounf and suspension unweighted?

Since I installed the Roadmaster after my Husky Centerline WDH was set up, do I need to set up the WDH again since the back end is up 1.25"?

To do any adjustment the wheels must be off the ground. I talked with them about this and to get maximum effect raise it and leave wheels and tires on to really arch the leaf springs.
