What you say is true but it's just a GUI for less experienced or newer operators who like the toys. You set the gain with the + & - and you try braking and feel the amount of braking and want the trailer to just start slightly before the braking vehicle so trailer does not push but not brake to stop the pulling vehicle. Gain number was never available years ago and everything worked perfectly IF set properly, with or without gain numbers. Yes, my opinion, but I have pulled and set braking for many years and miles with trailers. Since I have not tried it yet, IF, Ford made the IP Cluster necessary to have brakes work, that is a terrible strategy.

Oh, BTW I helped develop the first F Series Trailer Brake Controller and performed Trailer Tow sign-off for Ford

No, there is more to it than just seeing gain output on your screen. You wouldn’t be able to select brake output level from low, medium and high. That’s only selectable on the screen. If it did work, you’d only have gain control.

Wow! My email quit notifying me of responses to this thread, I thought it was dead in the water after the first response. Thanks to all for replying.

I was actually going to pay my dealership to install it when my transfer case blew up, but they never got around to getting me a quote. I'll probably just order the controller from them and be done with it.
However that will have to be next months project because my lead frame went out this week, so I have to spend that few hundred on transmission parts instead

oh you got a "warranty" on an OEM electronic part. You paid $200+ to have a component installed that requires 5 mins and pulling of a dash panel
to install. If it were Thanksgiving that tech would thank you for the gravy.
