Reading Window Sticker - W/TOW MO and 7050# GVWR PACKAGE
Hi,
Looking for a used truck to tow our 22ft trailer, I'm trying to make sense of the info in the original window sticker. I can see many trucks with the mention W/TOW MO after the transmission info. It looks like this W/TOW MO appears whether a two package is listed of not. What does this mean and should I pay attention to it?
2018 F-150 4X4 SUPERCREW EXTERIOR
157" WHEELBASE BLUE JEANS
5.0L V8 INTERIOR
ELEC 10-SPEED AUTO W/TOW MO
I also frequently see 7050# GVWR PACKAGE under the section Optional Equipment. What does this indicate? Is it the heavy duty payload package?
Thank you,

The tow mo would be towing mode on the transmission and I suspect all trucks have that, the 7050 is a little higher rating but not HDPP.
What type of trailer? and what is the GVWT of the trailer? If a travel trailer the single most important truck number is the payload that will be inside the drivers door

I don’t really follow what Ford is trying to say with the various GVWR Packages on the sticker. It not like it’s a selectable option. Mine says 7000# GVWR package.

My 2020 is 7050#, and it's a maxtow, not hdpp. Do you have the whole window sticker? OR, on the 2017, the chain hooks on the hitch, are they strait or bent? Bent is maxtow.

W TOW/MO is just telling you that tow/haul mode transmission profile exists for your truck, it means nothing because all gen 13 F150s have this.
The 7050# GVWR package is the designed max weight of the truck. It is the highest non-HDPP number you can have in gen 13. Generally a XL or XLT trim truck with this GVWR will have in the vicinity of 2000lbs of payload, good for towing a travel trailer.
For tow packages you're looking for "Class IV Hitch", "Trailer Tow Package", or "Max Trailer Tow Package" in the Optional Equipment section of the window sticker. These designations correspond to 53B, 53A, and 53C tow packages in Ford's towing literature. On 2018 F150s any truck with 53B has a max towable amount of 5000lbs as per the "2018 F150 tow guide" (google it). For 53A and 53C the amount you can tow is considerably more and found in the trailer selector tables for the F150. The 53B 5000lbs limit is bogus and a 5.0L truck can safely and reliably tow more but you'll need to do your research because you'll be operating outside of Ford's statement.

The sticker you should be looking at are the two on the B pillar of the drivers Door. Yellow show payload, the other one max axle loads. Might also show GVWR.

Thank you IIr,
The current trailer is a single axle 22ft travel trailer. It has an empty weight of 3370 lb. and a GVWR of 4600 lb.
Based on my calculation, a payload of 1700 lb. would be ideal.
I couldn't find any info on max tongue weight for the F-150. But figured it shouldn't be an issue for my relatively light trailer.

All trucks do not get tow mode.
