Default Rattle While Towing

This past weekend I took my new to me toy hauler tent trailer on a little 1400 towing mile venture from Central California to Southern Utah (Kodachrome Basin S.P. (camp), Bryce N.P. and Grand Staircase-Escalante N.M.). I kept her to no more than 60mph (I'm not into towing at 80!). About three times on what I believe to be a very slight decent while in 7th gear about 2000rpm at 60 with cruise set, T/H mode on I heard a horrible rattle. Like I was dragging a string of aluminum cans. If I killed the CC or got on the gas the noise immediately stopped. It only did this on the way there, on I-15 north of Baker, CA and well south of UT State Route 20. I stopped the first time and looked under the the truck and nothing was hanging off, leaking, etc. No dash lights. Transmission was sub-200F. Didn't feel anything different.

My only guess is the waste gate was opened slightly to relieve any excess boost. Has anyone ever experienced this? It was a little disconcerting and made for a few miles of worry.

Other than that the truck did beautifully! Trailer weighs 4000 empty and was probably at 4750, if that. No toys on the deck this trip. I was dry the first time she did it outside of Baker, but I had 26 gallons of fresh water, empty gray and a little black water the two times in UT. Got a late start so I didn't hit a scale on the way out of town. Put probably 50-60 miles on her on washboard roads to a couple trailheads in 4x4.

Overnight stop at Clark County Shooting Center, North Las Vegas, NV.

Waiting to hit the road home at Kodachrome SP Road and Cottonwood Rd for a buddy to dump his tanks back in the park. (She's looking a little nose high here.)

I'm wondering if your front axles were trying to engage vacuum issue)

That is what it sounds like to me as well. Mine did it once with the CC engaged but, I can’t get it to do it again. Even under the same conditions. Hopefully it is a one time thing. Otherwise, it will be hard to confirm it if it only does it once in a while.
