actually, it goes beyond being sued for money...

Suppose you are a little over your ratings and cause an accident that injures or kills someone...

I wouldn't be surprised to see jail time if a lawyer pushed hard enough. Not to mention the moral consequences that you injured/killed someone...some rules are meant to be followed.

that being said, I'm not going to weigh my truck everytime I put a load of firewood in the bed or hook up to a trailer...just use that un-common sense.

Yeah, wasn't meant to cause an argument about loading up trucks. The #s are conservative and some people are more conservative . I'm def to the side of using common sense as opposed to worrying about every little thing. If my "max payload" is 1500 and my towing is 12000 and I'm pulling a 8500lb trailer but my payload all loaded up is 1800-1900lbs, I'll be fine . I Think an F150 loaded up KR w the 6.5 bed is what I'm ordering. Now I gotta decide blue jeans or black and whether or not to get monochromatic or not. Too many damn choices.

Awesome!! Thanks for this. Looks like these are the numbers I'll be around with my KR. Does 6.5 bed give more payload? I've never compared . Maybe less since weight is slightly more?

A 4x4 screw 6.5' has an extra 50 lbs of gvwr over the 5.5' but also probably weighs a bit more so my guess is it roughly comes out the same. The max payload numbers are the same on fords website.

Dang....my 2006 Ridgeline had a 1536# payload...

I was 100# over GCWR pulling a 5000# GVWR HTT with the wife and two small kids in it.

If you want a pretty street truck...buy a Honda.

Thus the reason I've now got an XLT w/HDPP.

I am pretty sure Honda Odessey's have more payload than a lot of F150's. How else can you fit 8 passengers and cargo and not exceed GVWR. Even my Jeep Liberty is rated for like 1350 lbs.
