Payload and sag
Just for kicks when I went to Home Depot today, I loaded my truck rear end heavy and actually measured the amount it dropped (sag). I bought 18 bags of mulch. I loaded it all right at the at the end by the tailgate. Each bag weighed 50lbs so total weight was 900lbs as far back and piled high. So it would be equivalent to a hitch weight. The rear end only went down by 1 1/2 inches! I was amazed. I do have the 5.0 heavy duty payload package. But I was still amazed.

Sounds about right for the HD springs. Based on the measurements I did a while back, I'd guess 1.6-1.8" deflection. Click on the "heavy duty payload" in my sig to see how it does with 2500+ lb.

Jeff, sounds like a beast of a truck.
Buck, I see you went from an F-150HD to an F-250. What made you switch? What are the advantages/disadvantages of the new truck? Payload differences? Don't mean to thread hijack, but I am sure many are interested.

Hey at least you don't have a toyota tundra. Your tailgate would have fallen off.

Mainly the rear axle. The 150HD did really well, no complaints about handling or power (obviously, with the eco) but the axle was right at the 4800lb rating and I barely had anything in the front storage of the 5th, which is pointless. Now I feel like I could be on the show hoarders when we head out camping
BTW, my F150HD sagged 2-3/4" with about 1700lb pin weight and hitch. My F250 sagged 1.5" with no air in the bags. Once I loaded more junk, it sags about 1-3/4". I've only been running 20psi in the bags and brings it back up about 3/4" so it's only slightly low in the rear and still rides well.
Although it's probably overkill for the trailer, our last trip was over some extremely rough roads and I was glad to have 7000lb of capacity in the rear. Aside from miles of jarring bumps, a few of the moguls I didn't see in time left black streaks in the wheel-wells of the trailer. That's the stuff that will test the limits of equipment. Also glad I only have 3500lb on my 4400lb trailer axles in situations like that. I expected to see a few cabinets on the floor after that trip.
As a bonus, I'm OK with the towing performance of the 6.2, even after the eco.

Great info Buck, thanks. It sounds like you have the right truck for the job.
Triton does not.

Is the HD payload only available with the 6.5ft bed or is it offered on the 5.5ft bed. Just wondering if the HD rear leafs are available for the shorter bed?
