Default Overkill or not

I'm going to be purchasing a 2020 F150 V8 4x4 or 250...by late spring. Now I like to get it with a tow package. But maybe its an over kill because I'm just going to be towing a boat &trailer combine weight 2700lbs. I wish the V8 would come with a 6 speed tranny. Unless I get a f250. Anybody here have any over heating issues towing this kind of weight.

Thanks

?

That's not even a load for a f150/250 with out the package.
Get the tow package and be done!

Absolutely no problem!
I have a 2018 Lariat 4x4 with 5.0 and 10 speed and I tow 5 different trailers.
3 of which are boats with the heaviest at 4800lbs...

You'll be fine!

It's not overkill for you, because it seems that a big truck isn't much of a compromise, but I wouldn't have much use for a truck for that weight...I'd get a Toyota Highlander

if you like big trucks, get the biggest truck you can afford.

I'm not sure why you'd ever buy a pickup truck without a tow package, for a number of reasons. They're such a cheap option anyway.

People always say "I can't even feel the trailer back there". Usually they are talking about a 33ft 10,000lb trailer and are lying to themselves so they feel better about being over weights. In this case you may really not even know its back there.

2,700 isn't much weight when you consider the latest 5.0 makes 460hp and 420ft/lbs of torque.

Here is 6,500 - 6,750lbs of Cobalt behind our 3.5 EcoBoost. Pulls it fine, transmission temps stay around 205 - 210, no overheating issues at all.

Get the max tow trailer package, its cheap and you never know when you may want to upgrade boats. The Max Tow Package is worth it for the 36gal gas tank alone imho.

The latest F150 5.0 makes 395hp and 400 tq.

I just googled Ford Coyote HP and guess I pulled the torque and HP numbers for the 5.0 in the mustang and not the F150. I blame Wikipedia.

This one I just slipped on, just used people asking about the EcoBoost I guess.
