Yes.

If your F-150 has either the regular or max trailer tow pkg, then it's a simple job. If you don't have a tow pkg, then it's requires some wiring that is more expensive in labor costs.

Thanks, I thought so. The dealer is installing the system in the morning. Not sure of the total cost yet, but it's worth it to me.

Do you know what part numbers they were using? Went to dealership yesterday and they wanted $210 for the parts. Controller and plug at the tailgate and about $250-$300 for labor install. I thought it was excessive, I don't have any tow package.

No. But part numbers have changed over time. Best is to give your VIN to a Ford parts department and ask them which is the correct part numbers for your truck to get the ITBC (integrated trailer brake control module), and the trailer pigtail for the wiring harness. Write down those part numbers, Then ask the price for that part. Then check the disount price from a good Ford parts dealer such as this one: https://parts.autonationfordwhitebearlake.com/

Not having a factory tow pkg probably increases the install labor a bunch. But it sounds like they are charging you list price for the parts.

Many people install the controller unit themselves and have the dealer program.

My 2013 STX already had the wiring and bumper connector installed. Grabbed a controller at the wreckers for $80 CAD, installed it myself and activated it myself with Forscan for free (other than the cost of OBDII to USB dongle).

Works amazing.

Have you done it before? I am pretty savy but try to say away from electrical changes as the fear of the unknown.

Going to try and go to Tasca this afternoon to get the part numbers and see if their instlal costs differ from the other dealership.

Couple years ago on a 2010. I bought the part online from an Ohio dealer. It took some figuring to get the hole cover off and determine that the plug was hooked to a placeholder. After that, I stopped at the dealership for programming. I think the job set me back under $200.

It's a feature that I figure would have come with the truck.
