Default Need help!!!!

Bought a brand new 2018 fx4 4x4 last year thinking they all came with the trailer tow package. After going through the forums on here I'm convinced that I do not have a trailer package at all. Could someone with more knowledge look at the window sticker and let me know what tow option code I have( standard or 53b). I know it's not 53a or 53c.

Thanks in advance.

whew. That thing's got oodles of options. What is it, 1700lb payload?

Looks like a basic tow package, just the trailer hitch.

What are you planning/wanting to tow??

You have the 3.5EB, 3.55 Elock, 36 gal tank, 20 inch tires, Dynamic hitch assist (?), trailer sway control, Class IV hitch, which puts you in the upper end of towing capacity. The main limitiing factor is your payload.

Pulling a travel trailer. I have been paying close attention to payload when looking at specs of it.

Crawl under and look at the weight tag on the receiver. Subtract 100 pounds from that and that is what your full tongue weight is that you can tow. My guess is the max trailer weight would be 7300 pounds @13%. You have payload, so not a worry, but you don't have adequate cooling, or a brake controller. Add an aftermarket cooler, sway bar, and brake controller and you should be goo for the capacity of the receiver.

I have a brake controller on the way. Do you have a preference on aftermarket cooler.

OP, you've got a 53b, which is the class IV receiver and 7-pin plug. At least you don't have to dick around with getting wiring for the 7-pin.

53a adds thicker front sway bar, tranny cooler, and since you have the 3.5eco, engine oil cooler.

You have an ITBC on the way. You definitely need to add a tranny cooler. Depending upon where you tow and how much, the oem cooler is aok, and you can also add the middle east cooler, or a larger cooler from an expedition, before heading into the aftermarket $$$$$ land.

If you want to add an oil cooler, you can definitely do better than the oem cooler, although it works just fine, and even run a remote mount for the oil filter, or install a two filter mount for less bypass (or just a larger filter).

Before swapping the front sway bar, I'd install a Hellwig in the rear. The truck handles loads better with bars front and rear. Everything handles better with bars front and rear. Running only one bar is for rock crawling. Later, if you feel you don't have enough lean control, thicken up the front. I doubt you will.

You've already got the 3.55's, and shortly the ITBC, from 53c. HD receiver is the third item that package adds to 53a.
