Need 2000lb Payload....Hard to find

That is for XL trim 4x2 with absolutely no options. Add the Lariat trim that he wants, plus a few options that his sweetheart wants, plus 4x4 that everybody wants and you're way under 2,000 pounds. Close to the 1,800 pounds per the yellow sticker I mentioned in post #3 above.

I have a HDDP. If the price is close and your are running heavy, go for the F250. Better brakes, stronger transmission, stronger frame and suspension. There is a night and day difference if you will be running the F150 to the max capacity and a F250.

I read the first couple responses then skipped, so someone may have corrected the comments.
You can get a Lariat with HDPP, I have one. 17 Lariat SCrew 4x4 ecoboost 3.5 with HDPP, lowest trim only. 6.5' bed only. I got the heated/cooled bucket seats, side boards, tow mirrors and the twin moonroof, probably a couple other options I dont remember. 2284# payload. I've seen as high as 2360# payloads for almost exactly the same builds to ours. It was special ordered in 2016. Gas 250s at that time were 20-22K CAD over what we paid for this (for basically the same options).

I’ve got a HDPP screw lariat as well. But I believe they stopped offering the lariat trim in 17 or 18. Which is a shame because for me it’s really the best of both worlds. I tow a handful of times a year; and only max out the weight every few years when the military moves me. Daily I prefer the 150 vs 250 because it fills my needs better. I don’t think they promote or make them as much as they should but, I’m sure it would cannabilze sales of the more $$$ 250 if they were easier to find
Doubt you’d find one used as they’re fairly rare and special order almost exclusively. I echo what everyone else said regard xlt VS 250. Good luck.

If that trailer is 7500 GVWR, then a Lariat can tow it as long as the truck isn't loaded with gear or people, but if that is the as left the factory weight, then that is at least a 10K GVWR trailer and you would be much better off going to an F250. If you do order an XLT HDPP, you can always add leather. It isn't the covering that take up payload in the Lariat and up, but the seats.

As stated above, the higher the trim level you're seeking, the lower the payload rating. You can get to 2000# in an XL/XLT with minimal options, however. I have an XL SCab 4x4 with the 101A pkg, 3.5EB, 3.55 e-locker, Max Tow and the payload is 1960# without the HDPP frame. If you want to surround yourself with butter-soft leather and have your butt warmed and massaged while towing large, get an F250!

Official HTT Greeter
2112# here and I still haul 5 adults to lunch every Friday.... They are comfortable enough that they don't complain or offer to drive the group in their car.

You can no longer order HDPP in 2019 with the Lariat trim.

I really like my 2018 HD it is well worth the wait to order one. IMO if you are going to use the F150 as a truck then the 1800 dollar HDPP/MTTP is a no brainer!
