Default Mirrors

I Have a 2015 Lariat with the standard power folding mirrors. I'm looking to tow a 14ft 7.5wide enclosed trailer. Am I going to need the telescoping mirrors or can I get away with what I have??

I have a 2013 with standard mirrors. Towing a 7 foot wide is okay, no sure about a 7.5. I also have a pair of **** slide on mirrors that I could use in a pinch. But with a 7x14 cargo trailer regular mirrors are acceptable.

I thought about slip ons but am concerned they'd scuff up my painted mirrors. Any problems with yours??

My mirrors are not painted. Just wipe down the mirrors before sliding the on and the interior of the slide on piece and you should be fine. I also sprayed plastic dip on the inside as a precaution, I like the dunno tow mirrors but city driving like in NYC is tough enough let alone a another 2 inches on either side to worry about,

You might "get away" with towing your cargo trailer with your stock mirrors, but you won't be safe. With my 7x14 cargo trailer, I wouldn't leave my yard without tow mirrors telescoped all the way out.

I can't stand add-on mirror extenders. I love my OEM Ford tow mirrors. I didn't want to pay for memory mirrors to match my stock Lariat mirrors, and power telescoping and power folding tow mirrors were not available for my 2013. So I ordered the XLT tow mirrors with power glass, puddle lights, turn signals, and heated glass, but not memory.

For your 2015, only the manual tow mirrors are available from the Ford Accesssories catalog at a reasonable price. Fancier stock tow mirrors with power this, that, and something else will probably be available in the accessories catalog later, but not yet. And a quick search on the internet didn't turn up any replacement tow mirrors available for a 2015-up.

You can buy the Ford OEM fancy tow mirrors from the parts counter to give you the same functions as your stock Lariat or higher trim level mirrors that have power glass/telescope/fold. But they will cost you an arm and a leg. But a work-around is available for a lot less cash.

You can buy the non-power "XL" tow mirrors from the 2015 F-150 Accessories Catalog for $350 for the pair. You can R&R the outside mirrors in about a half hour, or less after you get the knack of it. So install the tow mirrors when towing, then R&R with the fancy stock mirrors when not towing.

Or do like I do - just leave the tow mirrors installed all the time because I don't have a half-hour to waste to R&R my outside mirrors. Of course my tow mirrors have power and heated glass so all I'm missing is a bit of chrome and the memory function, so it's not as critical that I change them out for the fancier Lariat stock mirrors.

It takes me a few seconds to manually telescope the tow mirrors in out, and I rarely need to fold the mirrors, so my XLT tow mirrors work great for me. But they won't fit your 2015, so you must "make do" with the manual XL tow mirrors unless you want to pay the big bucks to get the 2015-up power telescope factory tow mirrors from the dealer's parts counter.

But if you want to go first class, then here's the left side tow mirror with power telescope and rear camera. List is $900, and cash price from a discount Ford parts source is $600. That's just one side. The other side will cost you around $600 too.

Wow. Great info! I'll check those out. All of the above. I'm not reluctant to swap them out when towing but will look at al the options

My previous truck was a f350 with the tow mirrors and now in my 15 150 lariat i have the same mirrors as you. I just completed a 1300 mile round trip this past weekend towing a 18ft toy hauler. It's 8ft wide. The mirrors were more than fine and very safe. I had total vision of my lanes next to me. I can even back it into my drive way and put it a couple inches next to my garage wall with out any problems. Having the big mirrors is definitely nice. I had planned on replacing also but after driving and towing with it since I bought in in November I don't plan on replacing.

I swapped to tow mirrors and will never have a truck again without them.

I purchased mine through 1A Auto at a much better price and am in over 2 years now with no issues and I beat the crap out of mine in the bush hunting and fishing.

Not available for 2015+ yet (nor are the K-Source version). Both companies responded to an email that I sent a couple months ago saying they should be available this spring.
