My 2017 Lariat 501a, SCREW, 145" WB, Max Tow has a payload spec of 1785 per my door sticker. I have a Leer fiberglass cap on the back also (approx 300lbs). I towed a 26' TT last week (borrowed from a friend) with a GWVR of 8500lbs, if I remember correctly. Drivetrain...no issues at all, more power than I needed. Stability...not so much. Could not comfortably tow over 60 in traffic on the major highways. Made for a VERY long trip. No traffic, I could tow 65 driving with 1 hand and truly had the "didn't know it was back there" feeling. In traffic, well, lets just say I think my fingerprints are still in my steering wheel.

I guess its because of the max-tow package. It gave me the 7700 lb GVWR but my truck is a behemoth. I scaled it and it was 6140 lbs with a full tank of fuel and only my sons car seat base inside.

I has basically everything down to the factory bed liner and wheel well liners. The only thing it doesnt have that I can think of is the off-road package.

I really wish Ford would be consistent in their packaging. Max tow on the current gen really does nothing, but apparently on the previous gen it added quite a bit!

I like that they did that on the new trucks. Now, basically all similarly optioned F150's on the lot can tow the same whether they have max tow or not. Even the non-max tow trucks with 3.31's are rated to tow like 10,xxx lbs which isnt realistic with most F150's anyways without exceeding tongue weight or payload.

I guess the one advantage of the max-tow is the higher GCWR so that you can fully load your truck to GVWR and not bump into trailer weight limitations as quickly.
