New project trailer in the works,
1994 citation supreme w superslide
as built weight of 8219 pounds and 1350 pound pin weight
Lots to do to get it to work, Even though it tows just fine, my gas millage is very close to what it is with my 21 footer except up hill, but downhill mileage is awesome
kg x 2.2 is pounds
First trip to the scales was over gcvwr by 202 kg and over grawr by 24 kg
Took truck into shop yesterday and removed trifold tonneau cover and rubber ford bed matt, cleaned winter collection of junk, hooked up and back to scales
now 42 kg over gcvwr and have 75 kg under gawr.
I have lots planned for weight reduction as this old girl was built like a tank.
Shes gonna be a short tripper so i'm really not worried to much
this is going to be an ongoing weight reduction just because want to see how far I can go on this old girl.
sofa bed being changed out to wicker, I estimate 130 kg saving
heavy maple table and chairs, exchange for lightweight patio chairs and table, estimate 90 kg reduction.
glass shower doors....gone, replace with shower curtain, should save 30-40 kg, 30 lb propane tanks i'm switching to 20's, about 18 kg saving
May buy vented tailgate. for more savings estimate 40 kg saving
and lighter mattress and on and on, like i said project....

Don't believe ford when they tell you max trailer weight
ford says i can tow 9000 lb 5th wheel and my gcvwr is 14300. what a sales pitch...lol
8000 lb 5r put me way over
Pay attention to the little things they kill your payload,
tonneau cover, bed matt, upgrading to LT tires, those three items are enough to put this combination over gcvwr.

1650 rear w trailer
1430 front w/trailer
3430 trailer axels
1100 rear empty
1420 front empty

I was just looking at door stickers ,josheaton posted his door stickers weird his gawr ratings are lower then mine, but his payload payload is higher, my gvwr is higher then his
rear axel gawr is the same as mine at 1724 kg but my front gawr is higher at 1565 kg,
The more you look at ford numbers the more confused you get

On a side note
2015 f150, 5 liter auto, supercab 4x4, 331 gears, tow capacity 9000 lbs

1994 f350, 5.8 liter auto, crew cab 4x4, 410 gears, tow capacity 7100 lbs

so when this trailer was built, even an 94 f350 couldn't pull it legally, hmmm
the 94 f350 with 7.3 was only good for 10,000 lbs, so it could just do it with little for margin

I have thought that before. The F150 or 1500 of today really doesn't compare to past trucks. They are more capable. I still try very hard to make sure i stay within my trucks ratings.

Good luck with the project.

Don't waste your time swapping to the louvered tailgate for weight savings. I momentarily removed my tailgate one time and was absolutely shocked at how light it was. I could carry it flat on one hand like a pizza box!

There's a lot of numbers collected in the "Post Your Payload" thread. The OP created a very nice spreadsheet with about 100 trucks weight ratings listed and sorted.

just for a reference:

This is a 2016 F150 XLT 5.0, 3.55EL Fx4 Sport with 301A package and regular Tow

ME? like a dream. Well, except the rear tires feel like they come off the ground after a speedy speed-bump.

After 20k miles, I have started to notice the "sideways hop" that has become common. It's not too bad yet, but I have noticed it getting worse over the last month or 2. I'll probably swap out the rear shocks before summertime.

I have also been debating on the Helwig sway bar. I grew up driving in the Ozark hills famous for great motorcycling. They are a lot of fun in a truck too. Coming from a stripped down 2wd RCSB to a leveled 4x4 Supercab I can definitely feel an increase in body roll. It still feels pretty firmly planted to the road, but it definitely leans out more than I like.
