sorry for the newbie to TT towing question but do air bag helpers increase the payload or is the yellow sticker gospel? what gives the "max tow" a higher payload? is max payload a stopping issue(upgrade brakes?) or strictly a weight issue(upgrades springs?)? admittedly I didn't do enough research before i bought my trailer and am flirting if not just over my "max payload". i do have air bags and have upgraded brakes coming before our next trip.
*EDIT* i did remove my hockeystick graphic, so that should add a little capacity right?

If you're close to your PL limit(say, within 50#) you can do simple stuff like putting your truck's spare tire on the trailer. If you have jacks and stands for the trailer then you probably don't need the OEM jack.
granted this is mostly pidly little stuff that won't save you more than 50-so pounds....best to just plan ahead and pack wisely.

If I need to change the light bulb on a 12 foot ceiling light fixture, and only have a 4-foot step ladder, perhaps I can reach the light bulb by standing on a 5-gallon bucket balanced on top of the ladder and get the light changed. Look at the money I saved over buying a new ladder. Do I really need a bigger ladder if I only change my light bulb every few years?
Or, I could be safe and go buy a taller ladder.
The same is true with payload and trucks. We can either make potentially unsafe modifications, or go trade for the truck we really need or want.
(Ok, how many F150 forum members does it take to change a light bulb?)

No no no....you give your tallest child the light bulb.
They stand on your shoulders and then you climb the ladder.
You really should have known.
