I think Andersen is the only one NOT too grease, all other you should as I do with a reese round bar WDH. I did have one come loose due to the friction backing off the nut!!

Andersen web site:
Brake lining sleeve in the ball socket cone in the hitch head, provides the sway friction for the ball. The ball turns with the trailer coupler. No need to grease the ball because it rotates with the trailer while turning. Pressure on the ball into the socket with the brake lining is applied by tongue weight, creating self-adjusting sway control.

Default Bluewoo Sick Blue

Thanks for the response and advice Bluewoo. Btw, my F-150 is also a 2018 Lightning Blue Lariat 502A, Sport Appearance pkg, with FX4 off-road pkg. 6'6" bed, and I just added a Bakflip MX4 tonneau on the back to complete it.

Love your ride and taste Sir.

I'm also a "Greaser". I take the slide bar with ball out of the hitch receiver when I'm not towing. When it's time for a tow, I clean both the hitch and ball first with a little spray brake cleaner and then wipe if needed. Then a I'll get a little glob of grease out of the can with my fore fingers and put a slight film up in the hitch and on the ball. Then spray a little WD-40 in the latch mechanism. Takes five minutes and it's all good. Everything slides in place and moves freely.

Another for greasing the hitch ball. I use a ball cover whether on or off the truck when the hitch is not in use. I also periodically clean the ball and coupler to apply new grease.

I use grease, but after 6000 miles of continuous vacation driving, the ball looked in bad need of more lub.

And, towing thru Denver and mountain passes in winter conditions, the road sand was packed in there so tight the trailer latch assembly was frozen up. Hard to uncouple.

I love the wider 'C-Clamp' headlights the '18's have.

The Bakflip MX3 tonneau cover was a Must.

I had to throw in a body shot of that Blue that hooked us.

I guess my former life on the farm carries over for me, I can stand to see 2 pieces of metal rubbing together without grease, I found I only needed to clean and regrease a couple of times a season. If you do decide to grease get a cheap old rubber ball cap to put on it when not in use it really helps keep it dirt off when the trailer isn't hooked up and also keeps the grease off you.
