While I agree smaller forced induction motors are the future there is no way Ford Drops the 3.5 EcoBoost.

That probably was a stretch, but it does seem a bit odd to me that they have three twin turbo v6's (2.7, 3.5, 3.5HO). It would not surprise me to see something go away to make room for a 4 cylinder turbo.

Where would that fit in the lineup? Logically it would replace the 3.3L but that engine exists for Fleet use who prioritize simple and low cost.

I don't see a 4 Cyl Turbo making it's way into the F150 lineup. If that is the engine you want then the Ranger is your truck. Conversely, there is no V6 Turbo option in the Ranger because it would compete with the 2.7L EcoBoost in the F150.

If you want a 4 popper in a 1/2 Ton, GM is where to go. Ford would never go to that extreme considering they have a same displacement V6 that will run circles around the GM.

You are right, they don't. But, the old stuff is just that, old. Its not coming back, there isn't going to be some magical drivetrain that is coming back. All of this is spitballing random wants. There seems to be this odd obsession with raw towing figures like its the end all of of the vehicle.

I sure don't want one, but it wouldn't surprise me if Ford does it.

Heck, I wanted a new Ranger until they gave it the only motor option I didn't want.

Yet you haven't driven the Ranger to see what the 2.3 EcoBoost 4 banger can do. Smart.

Does it count if we're afraid we'll like driving it and be tempted to buy one instead of the 150?

<--guilty

I'm only 4 cylinder curious I'm not willing to go there openly yet
