First towing mod?
My bday is in a few weeks. Wife wants to get me something. My 18 3.5 eb screw fx4 tows decent but I was thinking about doing something. What's the first few hundred bucks worth of mod to make my tow better in general? I tow a 7k 32ft tt w an equalizer wdh.
How is the rake of your truck when hooked up to your TT? Are your spring bars putting enough weight back onto your front tires? I added the Bilstein 5100s and the RAS rear spring assist to my '18 XLT 3.5 eco, s-crew, fx4, max tow. My trailer is also at about 7k, with a tongue weight of 750 lbs. I had a fair amout of rear squat. I'm also trying to figure out towing mirrors. That pretty much all I have done to mine.
Tune or shocks.
For a towing tune it is hard to beat 5*Star. They are very good tow tunes that almost seem telepathic. Gearhead tuning also does a great tune that I use as my daily driver but I dont have as much time towing with it. The one time I did tow with it, it seemed solid.
Shock: For a few hundred dollars you can do Bilstein 4600 or 5100's. 5100's are adjustable in the front so you can level/lift the front of the truck. You dont have too though, they have a stock height setting. Both will make a big difference in how planted the truck feels, towing or not.

Agreed with the above, attack the rear suspension first. It will make a noticeable difference when towing and empty, though the 18 does ride a lot better than the 16 I had, but it is not an FX4 like the last one was. I did not like the way the 16 wallowed around, even with a four corner Bilstein upgrade. Start with the RAS and see. At least on mine, I don't feel the need to replace shocks just yet as it is well planted over bumps.

My '18 with the max tow, FX4, rode great stock. I was really impressed with the comfort, and ease to drive. Coming from a 3/4 ton diesel crew cab, my "little" 1/2 ton felt like a sports car. Still, that 750 lb tongue weight dropped my rear susp almost 3 inches. The WDH helped a lot once adjusted up in preload. Understanding that the RAS and any add on spring supports do not increase payload, it will definitely help the stability of the truck when towing. On mine it was necessary to help get the truck from not having a slight reverse rake (towing). On my s-crew, ended up adjusting my front Bilstein 5100 to the 0.76" setting, and the RAS in the back at the 1mm (white disc) setting probably raised the rear about the same. So my non towing rake is close to stock. The Bilsteins are noticeable. Stock is good, but if you are pulling more than 5000 lbs, I'd go for the Bilsteins too.
