Default F150 trailer camera and TPMS

I ordered a kit for the F150 trailer camera and TPMS for my 2024 Ford Lariat. The truck came with the trailer backup assist and pre-wired with the harness for the 12-pin connection for the Ford trailer camera and TPMS system, just not plugged in. The trailer tow connector on the truck came with the more standard 7-pin and 4-pin connections. The kit has the trailer tow connector for a 7-pin and 12 pin connections, HOWEVER, the harness for the 7-pin does not fit into the new trailer two connector, which is part number MU5Z-14489-C. The connections in the harness are rotated and it won't fit because it has to go into the female connection with a certain orientation. Why would they change the orientation? its just a 7-pin connection. I went to the Ford parts store and they didn't understand what I needed. Has anyone else had this issue?

Your truck has a four pin trailer connector? Most of us don’t get that.
are you sure your truck was built to run a camera?
what spec is your truck?

demarcod - A couple pictures of the connectors would help clarify this discussion.

It has the standard round 7 pin connector and below that a flat 4 pin connector. My truck has the cable for a 12 pin connector for the camera and TPMS, but it was not connected, so it is wired for the camera and TPMS. The 12 inch touchscreen lists a trailer cam, but when selected it says it is not connected. It is a 2024 F150 Lariat, with the backup assist. From what I have read, and seen on YouTube videos, it should accept the camera/TPMS kit.

Demarcod,
I don't have any answer to your question; I am researching this exact question before I purchase.
Can you tell me what item you ordered from Ford. I was referenced to order the LC3Z-1A189-AJ however the Ford parts online says something like "we don't know if this will fit your vehicle" so fat lot of good that did. We have a 2024 F150 Lariat Powerboost.
I will be watching for more helpful responses.

In order to post pictures of mine, I'll have to remove the original one that I have reinstalled in the truck. I'll do that later this week. The above pictures of the trailer facing female outlets are the same as what came with my truck. The one that came with the kit is the same, EXCEPT that it has the round 12 pin connection on the bottom in instead of the flat four pin. That is what I was wanting and expecting, EXCEPT that the truck side of the 7 pin does not mate with the truck's wiring.
It seems odd to me that they would change this, it just controls the trailer brakes, lighting, turn indicators, etc.

The kit I ordered and received, that has the trailer tow connector that won't accept my trucks harness for the 7 pin, was ML3Z-1A189-BE, the same item number as the one you are looking at, other than the first two letters. From a fairly quick inspection of the pictures the parts appear to be the same. I don't know what the difference is. Both parts say they don't fit my 2024 F150 Lariat, but from what I could tell from YouTube posts, users are able to install them if their truck has the wiring for the 12 pin connector, and two different AI sources (Chat GPT and one other, Gemini I think) confirmed that. Of course, those sources are not perfect.

To tophDriver, as I think I mentioned I purchased ML3Z-1A189-BE but the male end of the 7 pin plug from the truck did not fit into the new connector, it was "rotated" differently and also had a notch in it that prevented it from connecting. I later found out that the male 12 pin plug from the truck did not fit into the new connector. The plastic housing on the plug was designed to not fit.
The 12 pin connector from my 2024 Lariat has 10 wires in it, so clearly it is designed to be used. ChatBPT and Gemni said it would work. I'm continuing to look at the LC3Z-1A189-AJ kit, trying to find good pictures of the truck-side, female, sides of the plugs to see if they would connect..
