Towing is an all or nothing proposition. It doesnt matter how often you do it, to do it safely and legally you need to have the right truck, regardless of how often you do it. For that reason, I would do what the others here have suggested and look closely at the payload rating of the truck you are considering. When you factor in passengers, cargo, tongue weight of the trailer, payload is going to be the limiting factor.

I get the impression from your post that you travel with all or part of your family in the trailer, is that correct? Are there states where this practice is legal?
Thanks

Nobody ever travels in the trailer! It is illegal I believe in all the states. Every human has to ride in the tow vehicle. What you must referring to is the post with the weights. Look at the door jam sticker and see the payload available. Then add up all the pounds in the truck not including the driver and full tank of fuel. Then add the hitch weight of the trailer. That can't exceed then payload on the sticker.
I never said or implied anyone is ever in a trailer as it is moving.
