If you could find a light camper insert you might get by if you can flat tow the Jeep. As was mentioned you might be better off with a truck tent. There was a couple across from us on our last camping trip who had one. They were able to get it set up pretty quickly and with the air mattress it looked like it was be pretty comfortable.

What's the tongue weight when you flat tow a jeep? Maybe that would solve your payload problem if you just ditched the trailer?

Or just get a nice tent and a portable toilet.

A camper and a car trailer (even the lightest) seems like it would be WAY over payload of a 1/2 ton truck.

What about a hitch hog? Or something similar, since it takes the payload issue right out of the equation, you would only have to abide the GCWR.

Does the back (entrance) site on the tailgate? I would love to get one of those.

I had to remove the tailgate when the camper was in b/c drain for the tanks were below the floor.

Got it, thanks. Is that a 5.5 ft box or is it longer?
