You are correct, odd they reduced them from prior year. My standard 13 wheels are rated at 2025, same as 2016 HDPP steel wheels actually 3lbs more and 76lbs less than the aluminum ones. They still dont add up 4800 that the RGAWR is stated at. Sometimes the numbers make no sense.

Well, my 2014 has a 1460# payload. My trailer is "rated" at 7100# GVWR, however, when fully stocked with a full FWT, it comes in at 6300# with a TW of 720#. I have a topper on my truck, and Wet with me the truck is around 5960#.

This leaves me with very little payload left. When camping I also have 5 gallons of gas and my 84# generator in the bed which means the wife and my mom travel in her car, I take the kids. If its just a short trip, under 2 hours we all take the truck, its 400# over GVWR when we do.

So based on what your payload rating is, it would pull "MY" trailer just fine, but your trailer, you have to weigh it completely to determine if that truck can tow it.

I would love to have that extra 300 or so #, but I would still come up 100# short of what I really need to fully use the truck by itself when camping with the entire family.

I ended up going with a different brand, and honestly mostly because the Ford dealers up here (Canada) are mostly morons, and to top that off either the website is wrong or again the ford dealers are morons. I specifically asked for the HD payload package and was told by the dealers (3 different ones) that the HD payload package only comes on the 5.0 v8 models, you cannot get the HD payload on a 3.5 ecoboost. This completely contradicts the website, which allows you to configure a truck with HD payload package and 3.5 ecoboost....

To top that off, they all haven't a ****ing clue what the yellow sticker on the door is for, they quote the brochure max payload and say sure it can tow that look it says 3200 lbs in the brochure.. I guess it isn't that surprising but when you are trying to find a truck and telling them what you want, you keep getting the same thing... don't worry about it it's aluminum now so its lighter you can tow tonnes.... One guy said the door sticker cargo amount doesn't mean anything it only applies to your tires. Geesus murphy.

I gave up and stuck with gm since that's what I've had over the years, and never had a problem. I love the look and drive of the ford trucks but the dealers/website need to get their **** together. The gm experience at the dealer was simple, i want the max tow package please and it was searched for and done in a day.

Enjoy your new truck. What did you get for payload on a GM? I understood 1900 pounds was the max payload available on a Ram or Tundra minus the weight of options, and that the GM's were similar. My GM dealer told me that the last year for the heavy-half GM trucks was 2008 and recommended me to buy their low-payload truck and take it to the nearby spring shop for new spring sets.

It is correct that 3.5 EcoBoost HDPP trucks are available for order. I have a 2014 (originally a Canadian truck), and had orders placed for both a 2015 and 2016 before I found the used one I bought.

Dealers are there for one thing, to sell you a truck, and will say anything you want them to to get the sale. It is up to the buyer to be better informed about what they are buying and be well prepared before even stepping into the showroom.

In your situation, I would have built the truck online, printed it out and brought it in, and said, here, order this! I did that when I ordered a 2013 Fusion Hybrid. I knew more about the car and how it worked, than their service department.

Just because they sell them and work on them, doesn't mean they know anything about them, or they wouldn't need to get Ford on the phone in order to repair them.
