Default Basic tools or extra that you bring with your TT

I tried to find this thread and didnt find anything similar. I am pretty sure that many of the TT have similar screws and bolts, as to that what do you guys bring with? I found that to be a question when i first started towing and camping with my pop up trailer. To what situations have you guys been? and what do you guys bring with you as a minimum? or as tool case in general.

Just off the top of my head some extra items I bring while towing TT or camping are:
- Socket set that includes screwdriver bits
- tube of silicone
- few screws of various sizes
- metal wire (had a pin that slipped out on a pop up camper and only 3/4 corners would lift - I found the pin then cut wire to length and used to retain pin in place)
- ladder (awning, tarps, cleaning top of slide ins etc)
- cable lock(s) to lock up generator to tree or camper and to lock bikes
- hammer for ground pegs
- large adjustable wrench for hitch etc
- extra fuses for trailer
- 12 volt air compressor
- chain link with threads to connect break away cable to truck
- extra pin for TT coupler
- breaker bar for lug nuts

I'm sure there is more but that's what I can think of at the moment.

I carry a spare set of wheel bearings and a small tube of grease.

My trucks all have a pretty well equipped tool box. My TT has even more, a cordless drill and bits, Dremel, silicone plumbing wrap tape, teflon tape, Goop, Water Weld, Quik Steel, a spare toilet seal, a rivet kit, various screws and brackets, spare water heater drain plugs m, water heater fusible link, and a long list of other things. I basically looked at what could go wrong and tried to have the tools and parts to fix it

I try to keep it simple as possible. No need in taking up TT payload with stuff.
Crescent 170 Pc. General Purpose Tool Set - Closed Case - CTK170CMP2 (Amazon) Great Kit!
Fuses, duct tape, Dicor for emergency leak fixing
I keep an "McGyver" kit in my Bug Out Bag with assorted wiring, hardware and such.
Hammer
I use the Royobi 18v + which consist of Air compessor, Flashlight + other unrelated tool items . Oh, and a charger.
A large piece of cardboard for a red neck creeper. Sucks to be crawling around on gravel or dirt under a TT.
Small Battery charger, Hydrometer, distilled water for batteries.
Wood saw ( Sevensaw), Hatchet, large military knife.
Odd items needed to change a tire that can not be repurposed from the Tow vehicle.
Odd sized socket for the drain plug on the HW heater.
Without doing an inventory, this off the top of my head.

Don't some of the panels in travel trails have the square head fasteners?
Good to have various tips for your driver handle for things like that (more than a Phillips)

Those square head screws are Roberston screws. Yes, lots of RVs use them.

I try to haul as little as I can. I have regular tools in the truck then a screwdriver with all the little bits for the funky screws. Normal where I go there are RV places I can
get what I need. Try to keep things maintained before we travel. If all else fails there is someone with about 500lbs in tools with them and I use their stuff.

My list is pretty long because I got room for a lot of things. I have a DECKED system unlike a conventional tool box and man, I feel like I brought half of my tools with me. All honesty, the most often tools are in my truck and the rest stays in the shed. When I do projects around the house the distance between the two is negligible and if I ever need to fix a family or friends location, its already in my truck I got a enough decent payload so why not? Here's a list of things I carry but not limited to:
  • Recovery tools i.e. recovery straps, shackle, etc. (I once off-road in my previous life
  • Both sizes of all types of sockets and wrenches
  • All sizes of allen wrench to torque wrench to hex wrench etc.
  • All sized of any screw drivers and such
  • Breaker bar and torque wrench
  • All cotter type/sizes pins
  • Electrical tapes, ends, connectors, etc
  • Different sizes of wire ties (love them more than duct tape)
  • Rubber mallet and hammer
  • All sort of tapes, yep, duct, electrical, HD dble sided tape and most of them are 3M
  • All sorts of lubes
  • All sorts of knifes
  • All sorts of Dewalt related tools
  • And more stuffs I can't remember heh
There's an old expression: It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. The importance of that expression doubles in significance if you made the conscious decision to "go without it" and then ended up needing it. Now on our 4th year camping, I only had to use the basic tools i.e. screwdrivers, utility knife and such and have not had to break out anything big, thank god (knock on wood). I have used other tools for a few friendly camping neighbors and I get free beer heh. Safe travels to all!
