Default Another payload question..

Hi ,

I've been going through Ford's payload/towing numbers for my truck.
I'm wondering how the weight of a tank of gas fits in.Do Ford's numbers assume you start with a full tank of gas ??

GVWR = 7200LBS , door sticker says max payload = 1422LBS,

So my truck weighs 5778LBS without any payload , but including weight of a full tank of gas (36Gal / 215lbs approximately) ??

I plan on filling up the tank and driving to a weigh station soon.I guess that's the acurate way to check!

I am guessing that their listed weights are everything full ready to go.

^true^
YOU are part of the payload. If you weigh 200 lbs then you have 1222 lbs left to load.

The best thing to do is fill the truck up with everything you would bring on a trip, family, gear in the bed, full tank of fuel and hit the scale. Minus that weight from your trucks gvwr and thats what you have left for payload our tongue weight for a trailer.

I weighed my truck recently and found it was right on the payload figures with a full tank. My truck has a gvwr of 7350 lbs and a payload of 1419 lbs. It weighed right at 5930 lbs without me, but with a full tank of fuel, bedbug and soft tonneau cover.

Yep, that payload sticker is GVWR minus wet weight (full fluids, including gas tank). The driver is not included so you can automatically subtract your own weight from the door sticker. That's what you have left, which is not much for some configurations.
