Short term is I'm just gonna splice them, long term is I'm going to eventually get a terminal box because I guess splicing isn't the "best" solution since they say water can eventually get into the area no matter how much electrical tap is used.
There is nothing wrong with splicing as long as it's done properly. Which is stripping back the insulation making a good mechanical connection then soldering it to make it permanent. Clean the solder joint with isopropol alcohol then coat with dialetric grease. The splice should then be covered with shrink tube to insulate and weather seal it. Butt splices can be used as long as you get a good crimp on them and seal / weatherproof the same way.

They don't actually need to be weather-/waterproof. Very few of the factory terminals on my (antique) vehicles are, and they all run fine - even the ones I off-road, and hose out frequently.

And I recommend adding a drain to any box.

The one you linked looks identical to the one on the right...which doesn't fit my truck like the one on the left...I essentially bought one that looks just like the one on the left but comes wired for RV standard so the color wires will match so I shouldn't have to worry about miss-wiring.
