Although I still stick to my argument that an F150HD eco is perfect for a 7-9k 5th(when loaded), I would have to agree that if you are spending a lot of time in the 5th and dragging it around the country, the lightweight models are going to fall apart. Plus, you won't be packing as light as a weekend warrior.

In this case, looks like your best bet is a full-timing grade 5th and a diesel 1 ton. Head over to RV.net for some opinions. There's no shortage of them

While I don't have the HD package I have a screw 4x4 5.5 with max tow, I have also upgraded my rear springs so the only things I don't have from the HD package are the 157" wheelbase and the sticker saying 8200 GVWR instead of 7650.

I know that the extra wheelbase would make a difference and don't get me wrong I enjoy my truck a lot and think it is the best 1/2 ton class towing truck out there. I do however stand by the statements in my previous post regarding what the OP is trying to do and think he would be much happier with a full-time rated trailer and TV to match
