I would check if shocks, wheel bearings etc are all in good shape.
The hitch isn't there, only the rails. My trailer dealer said it was a recent addition and certainly not 4 years old. I'm hoping the PO found out early that this wasn't the truck for fiver towing.
Your original post and title made it sound like you wanted to tow a 5th wheel. you need to post the payload capacity from the driver's door yellow Tires and Loading sticker. it'll say 'Occupants and cargo should not exceed xxxxlbs".

Why don't you ask the seller of the vehicle about the history? Find out the previous owner's name and call them.
Chances are the fifth wheel trailer wouldn't be that large. If it was, the truck wouldn't haul it.
I have a 11k pound (dry) fifth wheel trailer with a 2K pound kingpin weight. My F250 diesel with air bags on the rear will handle it--but barely.
They do make fifth wheel trailers that are lightweight today, and 1/2 ton capable of being pulled.

Check the driver's door stickers... what's the payload rating and GVWR numbers? It's possible original owner bought an HDPP version truck to haul a fifth-wheel (check the options on that original window sticker). The casual F150 shopper may not know they've stumbled across an HDPP truck.
Why? Thousands of other F150s used to tow oversized bumper pulls out there that you would think to be a better choice? Besides PO could have used it to pull a gooseneck horse trailer, neither you nor OP has any idea.

I have been doing some research and been enlightened to the fact that there are small 5th wheel campers out there. I just assumed 5th wheel, over weight for half ton truck
