I'm quite happy with my 5.4.
Thanks for the posts folks!

If you don't already have it, get an sct x4 and performance tow tune (I use 87 octane tune) from 5 star tuning. They have a ODLK tune, overdrive lockout, that prevents the truck from shifting into 6th gear when in tow haul mode. This is great for highway towing and prevents hunting between 5 and 6 since your truck does not have selectshift option on the transmission (only thing I miss from my 12). I requested the ODLK tune but with the normal shift pattern and electronic throttle improvements. This maintains regular day to day drive ability in the shift points but still benefits from better throttle response. When tow haul mode is not active the truck shifts through all 6 gears as normal. A side on the tune though, if you use cruise control it bypasses the 6th gear lockout so just be aware of that. Happy towing!
