Who among you tow with a 5.4 with less than 7000 pounds of trailer?

When I had my 2003 F150 5.4L, I would tow my 6800 lb trailer in the mountains around Durango, CO from my home base in Napa, CA. No problem pulling the trailer; the issue was the 25 gal gas tank. Always had to carry cans of gas in the truck bed.

I'm pulling a 4,000 pound trailer with my 2010 5.4L Lariat Supercab.

My Nash 23f came in at 5240 fully loaded when I last checked at a CAT scale.

What are your tips/tricks/techniques for getting uphill with that kind of weight?

Me? That's actually a pretty light trailer from what I've seen with other's setups. The truck is SUPPOSEDLY rated for 9000lb. I keep overdrive off and downshift when necessary. Never really had to "floor it" in a lower gear to pull a grade.

My '05/5.4/3.73 pulls a 5300 lb. boat & trailer combo comfortably.
