2018 F150 Factory Trailer brake controller question
#42
Brake controller works great with power supplemented when I plugged in trailer. I am just in search of a constant 12v near TBC to finish up the install.

I saw this video yesterday! Awesome video!
I actually have a fuse in the proper slot. I don't have the brake controller but I do have a fuse. Could this mean my fuse box is properly configured? I was very surprised to find this in my fusebox last night.
By the way, for those who are wondering, 2 different dealerships have confirmed that JL3Z-2C006-AA is the correct part number for the TBC on the 2018s. However, they can't make it work if there's so pins in the fuse box to power the module.
I just ordered the part, I guess I can try it out when I get it.

Hey guys, new here. I thought I would add to what some have been finding. Not any new information that hasn't been said already, just a walkthrough of the issue on my '18 F150:

Another piece to the puzzle. I just tried to get a voltage from the empty fuse plug, you can see the connectors under the fuse block, and the slot is dead both key on and key off. Sooooo, power will either have to come from the battery down or from under the dash.
My thought as as to how I will proceed is going to be to run both a hot and ground down and into a new fuse block so that in the future I will have power available under the dash on my terms and not Ford’s.

Thanks for the info. I’ve decided to let my local ford dealer assume all respnsibility for the install of the aftermarket TBC. With everything being run through the ECM my worry is that as there is no power to the fuse socket and the plug at the other end that once a load is applied to the circuit the ECM is going to not be ready for it.
I’ll continue to wait for the fix but in the mean time I will be able to tow my trailer safely.
As as far as the additional power I’ll do that when it warms up here in the Midwest. If by some chance I receive news from ford regarding the TBC issue I’ll post it here ASAP.

Update: I, as well, dont want to be messing around with a brand new truck electrical system. I want it'Ford fixed' even if the fix is simple. If electronics do not work down the road, I don't want them to have an excuse to point at. Its currently at the dealer and they confirmed everything mentioned here. They have a case open with Ford, and the dealer's first opinion is that it is defective/not-as-designed parts installed, rather than an intentional disablement of features from Ford; this is the dealer, and not Ford. We will see what Ford service opinion is...
